Known differences from retail at this point. I will soon be posting a video from the avid EJ fan who found these and ran through the proto side by side with the released version:

    1. New Junk City - Chuck boss can glitch out so that no crate appears or that Chuck is invisible to crates. Game breaking, and Jim must die. Perhaps an error in the coding where the event stayed triggered and did not reset itself.

    2. What the heck? - just before the segment where Jim has so whip the wheel to make the gate rise (part with the lawyer) and where Jim has to swing from 2 hooks, there is a hook object just below the ground. This was removed in the final. Perhaps it was used for a debugging purposes? As it would allow the testers to backtrack to near the beginning of the level?

    3. Another thing that is interesting is that the event where Evil the cat throws a bomb can be triggered multiple times! If Jim leaves the area and comes back to it, he will pop back up!

    4. Level 5 - Level 5 part 2 where Jim is out of the suit. 2nd conveyer belt, there are more health pick ups and some assets have been moved around, feels like they extended that part slightly.

    5. The 2nd hook's hit box is not positioned properly. This is the hook you have to swing from just before reaching the end of part 2 is.

    6. The "Continue" just before the Robot Chicken is missing.

    7. Intestinal Distress - Doc Duodenum can be killed in 1 hit with a plasma which breaks the game. His coding is the same as a regular enemy. 1 plasma and dead.

    8. Different demos for Jim when he starts showing off for the camera when the screen darkens due to inactivity! Probably my favorite find so far.

FYI, I have a bunch more protos I will be dumping in the near future. Same reason: I don't really plan on selling these and I think they should be out in the open and preserved.

Thanks! I'm a big Earthworm Jim fan so this is a welcome surprise. Mind letting us know what titles we'll be seeing in the future?

Here's what I have. There are a few I'm still debating, but I'll probably just dump them all:

    NES:

    - Ninja Gaiden (pre-censor, includes "damn" and "hell" in cutscenes. This was from a kid tester lol)

    - Ninja Gaiden 2 (sample, but game genie codes will get you to the last level)

    - Shadowgate (appears to be final)

    - Tecmo Baseball (glitchy, appears to have differences)

    - Dragon Warrior (coding nearly identical, I think there's one difference in the hex)

    - Final Fantasy (Dated four months prior to release (I think). Coding nearly identical, though I was told there are text differences in the dialogue. Good luck finding them!)

    - Power Blade (I think it's retail, need to check)

    - Blaster Master (level select, not sure if other differences)

    Genesis:

-Shining Force 2 (coding appears identical, but there's a hilarious glitch with the physical copy. After main character takes one step from beginning of game, he turns into a boat and can't move anymore. If you click on status, it's all glitched out. It appears the tester created a save file but removed the EPROM containing the actual save. Fortunately, I was able to rip the game successfully, so I have the rom, which can be played through normally.)

    - Phantasy Star IV (appears to be final, though it contains a save game of the programmer/tester)

    - Zombies Ate My Neighbors (I think it has same coding as released, but need to double check)

    - Arcus Odyssey (I think same as final? Can't remember.)

    - Splatterhouse 2 (tons of coding differences, not sure how they translate in game)

    - Mortal Kombat 3 (board is dead, unfortunately, and I never had a chance to even rip. I bought it for $25 hoping I could get it working, but alas not)

    - Ballz (full of coding differences)

    - Earthworm Jim 2, Genesis (coding appears identical to final)

    - Earthworm Jim 2 Mega Drive (lots of coding differences. Strangely, this appears to be dated one day AFTER release. Not really sure how to explain it...)

    - Vectorman 2 (tons of coding differences)

    - Hardball 95 (appears same as final, but when fired up on genesis it brings you to a debug screen. Yet, when ripped, it plays straight through with no debug. Wonder if maybe the save battery is dead and is glitching things?)

    SNES:

    - Zombies Ate my Neighbors (identical coding to final)

    - Shadowrun (tons of differences in coding, I think the game has a bunch of differences, as well. What's weird is that it's a PAL prototype, but the opening screen is the NTSC version, or something like that. It's really weird, but I would guess someone with knowledge of the game would really be able to find some neat stuff)

    Sega Saturn:

    - Shining Force 3 (early build, has a number of confirmed differences. Extracted files are mostly dated 2 months prior to release, music files appear to be 8-9 months pre-release)

    - Shining Wisdom (appears to be final)

    - Darius Gaiden gold first party (dated a few days before release, appears to be final)

You can always have someone try to dump the roms directly from the Mortal Kombat board. Neat stuff though :)

Yup, which seems close, but EJ developers were notorious for getting shit done the night before the release lol, which is why there are so many differences.I was hopeful Intestinal Distress would have major differences, but unfortunately it appears to be mostly the same.

Yes, correct. I'd be interested to know where you found that? Is it in the coding? I have a standard hex editor, I didn't see it, though not sure how closely I looked.

I'd be happy to send it away to someone who knew what they were doing and had the equipment. I'll pay shipping, too.

The cheat menu is either disabled, not coded yet or completely different coding than what was released in the final, man. If someone finds a way to get into the cheat menu, please let me know! I'm doing direct side by side comparisons!

Found some more changes, For Pete's sake has a platform that was taken out, it tricked me too, I thought I could jump on it!
